Romanico in Sardegna

Nuraghi and bronze age

nuragic civilization:
a bronze age sardinia

discolsure

The Nuragic Age, is a fascinating period in the island’s prehistory, spanning from approximately 1800 BC to 900 BC, ( ancient  bronze age and  iron age in Sardinia).  This era marks the rise of a unique and advanced civilization, the Nuragic people, who left behind a remarkable legacy of stone structures and artifacts that continue to intrigue archaeologists and historians. The most iconic of these structures are the nuraghe, large stone towers that served both as defensive fortresses and as symbols of social and political power. These structures, with their complex, conical shape and dry-stone masonry, are more than 8000 and are scattered across the island, representing one of the most significant architectural achievements of Bronze Age Europe.
